Both photosynthesis and cell respiration are forms of energy transfer, but they are opposing reactions. In photosynthesis solar energy is being stored in the cells in the form chemical energy. This type of reaction is called an endogonic reaction. in cellular respiration chemical energy is being released outside the cells to do work. Another difference between these two is where they take place. Photosynthesis only takes place in plants. It takes place in the plants chloroplast. Cell respiration takes place in plant and animal cells in the organelle called the mitochondria. (cristae).
