The light reactions begin with the absorption of of light in the chloroplasts. Most of the chloroplast are similar.  Every chloroplast is surrounded by a thylakiod membrane which has stacks of thylakoids that contain granum all  surrounding in a solution called  stroma. The chloroplast absorb all colors in the light spectrum except green. Green is reflected back resulting in the green appearance of the chloroplast.after the light energy is absorbed then water from the soil that the plant is in is absorbed into the plant.
The above is a diagram is the electron transport chain used in the light reactions of photosynthesis. Electrons from water molecules are transported through the transport chain in to high energy levels. Also the hydrogen atoms from the water are transported through a carrier protien called atp synthase where they are added to adp in order to convert it into atp.
